YAY for E.C.!!

Well Russ has been doing Elimination Communication since he was two weeks old. E.C. is paying attention to Russell's potty cues. He has a particular call out that he does when he needs to go potty. He also gets hyper (moves his legs and arms a lot), is "talkative", or gets fussy suddenly. So, I take him potty by either holding him under his knees over the sink or in his IKEA potty. I hold him in position and cue him by blowing raspberries. Originally, I made a "psss" noise for pee and mimicked his little grunts, for poo. Now, I blow raspberries for both. I chose to do raspberries b/c he'll be able to do that before he could make a 'pss' noise or sign that he has to go.

Wednesday (2/23/10) he woke up from his nap, was awake a minute or so, and then made a raspberry. I immediately perked up and took off his diaper and took him to the sink. He went pee and poo...HOORAY!! After that we had a couple misses (a miss is when I miss his signals and he goes in his diaper)...but its an on going journey we are on. =)

Yesterday a few times when I took him potty he would blow raspberries BEFORE peeing or pooing. So neat to see all of my hard work paying off!!!

Russ looks so happy after he voids. Often, he will smile or squeal after he goes, which makes me think he appreciates me (and daddy) taking care of not only his hunger, physical, and emotional needs but also his elimination needs. He doesn't sit in his own mess and will never have to unlearn the idea that his diaper is a toilet. YAY, YAY, YAY!

I love him and am very proud of him, he's a fighter (he takes after his mom in that way!). I love how personable he is becoming. He squeals, coos, and 'talks' with our family members now. He even flirts a little bit when people talk to him, he hides his face and looks at them with a smile. So darn cute!!

This weekend I'll try to get a good picture of him on his IKEA potty. He smiles and talks to himself when he's on the potty... LOVE IT!! He has also found his feet recently and will practically almost fall off the potty leaning over to touch his toes.

Well it's time for bed. G'night.
